Subverting traditional storytelling conventions through meta-theatricality and grandiosity, and an ice-cream-coneful of heart, this romantic epic pulls the curtain up on these star-crossed lovers and their journeys through time and space to explore whether love is a divine inheritance, a radical act of autonomy, or somewhere in between.
