Projector Projector
Int. Movie Theater – Night. Fade in on Russell, a filmmaker reveling in the reception of his debut feature at the LA Film Festival, and his brother Barry, a film critic with a reputation to be severe. A film projector flickers to life, and the siblings’ past and present collide, forcing them to confront their fractured relationship. Projector Projector is a rumination on an immigrant upbringing, splintered paths, and the interconnection between criticism, creativity, and care.
Through innovative staging and heartfelt dialogue, Doan successfully captures the tension between creation and critique. The interplay of live performance with cinematic projections adds a visually stunning layer, ensuring this play will deliver a unique theatrical experience.
