
About Anthony
Born in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Anthony Doan (he/they) is a queer, first-generation Vietnamese-American theatre artist currently based in the Bay Area. Through an anti-racist, culturally informed lens, they strive to viscerally entertain and challenge audiences, provoke political thoughts, and inspire people to empathetically listen to the world in a different vibration.
Selected notable acting credits include the world premieres of Nguyễn/Quang/Sam in Colonialism is Terrible, but Phở is Delicious (Aurora Theatre Company & Oregon Contemporary Theatre), H/Ana/Mother in of Red, Red, Red (Oakland Theater Project), and Christian in Cyrano de Bergerac: A Queeroic Comedy (Island Shakespeare Festival).
As a playwright, they have worked with Crowded Fire Theater and More Más Marami Arts, developed works with Pork Filled Productions and City Lights Theatre Company, commissioned by Contemporary Asian Theatre Scene, and recognized as a semi-finalist in the O’Neill National Playwright Conference (2025) and 44th Bay Area Playwrights Festival.
Directorial projects include Sanctuary City at More Más Marami Arts and Stupid F*cking Bird, Eurydice, and Lungs in collaboration with West Valley College, as a part of the Alumni Network, which he co-founded.
Anthony received their B.A. in Drama at UC Irvine.
